What we keep

Your account: your name, your email address and your password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash; nobody can read it back.
Your words: the words, translations, notes and groups you add.
Your progress: when you studied each word and how it went, and your grades.
Comic pages you scan in the iPhone app, and the text read from them.
A sign-in cookie, so you stay signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
The internet address you signed up from, to stop one place from creating many accounts.

Why

Only to run the app for you: to show your words, schedule your reviews and keep your devices in step. We do not sell your information, show ads, or share it with anyone for marketing.

Who else sees it

When you scan a comic page, check a spoken translation or look up a word in the iPhone app, that page or text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to be read and translated. Anthropic processes it to answer the request. Nothing else leaves our server, which is hosted by Vultr.

Deleting it

You can delete your account at any time: open the app, go to More, then Delete my account, and enter your password. Your account, words, progress, grades and comic pages are deleted from our database right away.

Children

Pop Language is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep information about them.
